The Learning and Outcomes within the Department of Education and Early Childhood Learning is seeking to fill a regular full time Curriculum and Assessment Consultant position (focus on K-12 Math programs).

Please note that Interchange Agreements will be considered.


Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess or be eligible for a Manitoba Teacher's Certificate
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Must have a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Must be able to travel within Manitoba as required

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience leading numeracy initiatives in a school, divisional or provincial setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships, demonstrate tact and diplomacy, handling sensitive issues and work effectively with others.
  • Excellent organizational skills demonstrating the ability to work well under pressure, multi task, adapt and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving and decisionmaking skills with the ability to use innovation and creativity to resolve complex issues.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong written communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of current educational research and trends in mathematics and other relevant fields.
  • Experience working with an interdisciplinary team from other disciplines and pedagogical practices.

Desired:

  • Experience in curriculum development and design of supporting learning resources.
  • Knowledge of Global Competencies and how and why they are implemented in classrooms.
  • Knowledge of Manitoba's Framework for Learning.

Duties:


The Curriculum and Assessment Consultant provides expertise and project leadership in the development of curriculum on the K-12 Math programs including numeracy.

The Curriculum and Assessment Consultant shares expertize and collaborates with colleagues to meet department and government needs and priorities related to K-12 Education.

The consultant represents the Department by working with stakeholders and partners on projects and matters that are within the mandate of the Department, division and branch.

The Consultant will ensure alignment of curricula, provincial assessments, resources, support materials with the Framework for Learning and governmental priorities and support implementation.
