Compliance officer to join our team.

Job Overview:


Key Responsibilities:


  • Conduct due diligence on potential service providers.
  • Evaluate their compliance with regulatory requirements, assess their risk profile, and make recommendations for approval or rejection.
  • Perform comprehensive reviews of service providers' policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Identify any gaps or areas for improvement and work with the appropriate teams to implement corrective measures.
  • Evaluate requests for exceptions to compliance policies and procedures.
  • Assess the potential risks and benefits associated with granting exceptions and make recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop and implement monitoring processes.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and flag any unusual activity or potential compliance violations for further investigation.
  • Stay abreast of changes in regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Assess the impact of new regulations on our operations and work proactively to ensure compliance.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal teams on compliance policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare regular reports on compliance activities, including monitoring results, exceptions granted, and regulatory updates.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate documentation of compliance efforts for audit purposes.
  • Serve as the lead for the company's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Program, evolving, maintaining, and enforcing its policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, such as The Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act and Regulations.
  • Review, assess, audit, and report on various transactions, including suspicious transactions, politically exposed persons (PEP) determinations, AML alerts, adverse news alerts, and consumer loans for AML compliance.
  • Monitor highrisk clients for moneylaundering or terroristfinancing indicators, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to different teams or departments.
  • Complete internal selfassessment and risk assessment processes. Support the development and maintenance of policy, procedure, and training documents related to AML.
  • Analyze AML transaction trends and make recommendations for process improvement, policy updates, and risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Law, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CAMS, CRCM) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a related field, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, such as antimoney laundering (AML), consumer protection, and lending regulations.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and make informed decisions.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detailoriented with a high level of accuracy and precision in work.
  • Proficient in data manipulation, analysis, and presentation. Experience with fraud detection and audit processes is an asset.
  • Project management skills are a plus.
  • Highly organized and capable of multitasking efficiently.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is a plus.
