    Description

    Job Title: Diesel Engine Mechanic at VIA Rail Canada Inc.



    VIA Rail Canada Inc., the national passenger rail service of Canada, is looking for Diesel Engine Mechanics to join our team at the prestigious Vancouver Maintenance Center.

    As a Diesel Engine Mechanic, you will be responsible for carrying out preventive maintenance and performing repairs on locomotives and rolling stock.

    Your expertise will be essential in diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on captivating locomotives and conducting the necessary repairs.

    In addition to inspections, you will be required to follow VIA's preventive maintenance program guidelines for locomotives.


    Job Benefits:
    • Permanent full-time position with guaranteed 40 hours per week

    Hourly Salary:
    $ $/h

    • Evening and night shift differentials: $1.50 and $2.00 per hour, respectively
    • $1/H Red Seal premium

    Full Benefits Include:
    Dental, medical, pension plan, ride pass, 5 personal days + vacations

    • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as boots, glasses, helmet, vest, and gloves, along with provided tools and uniforms

    Requirements:
    • Vocational diploma in heavy-duty mechanics, diesel mechanics, or automotive mechanics
    • Strong leadership and teamwork abilities
    • Familiarity with air brakes
    • Availability for day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts
    • Inter-Provincial certificate in mechanics (Red Seal) is an asset
