Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for various general ledger accounts
  • Prepare and upload monthly accounting and bank entries
  • Prepare bank reconciliations for Corporate bank accounts
  • Support the analysis of the balance sheet and income statement by setting up excel models
  • Support the effort to prepare annual budget for areas of responsibility
  • Liaise with external auditors and internal audit team to provide the documents needed for review and audit
  • Prepare financial statements and notes disclosure for financial statements and MDA for areas of responsibility
  • Analyze reconciliations of GL accounts performed at the property level
  • Liaise with operations finance and property managers to ensure proper understanding of results and transactions, while providing guidance over complex accounting items and other issues
  • Support the administration of covenant reporting and forecasting
  • Prepare the corporate monthly binder
  • Support corporate accounting projects and business plan initiatives
  • Identify financial and operational process improvements and support implementation of improvements after receiving appropriate approvals
  • Other ad hoc activities as assigned

Qualifications:


_Education:
_


  • Postsecondary degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
  • Recently completed or working toward professional accounting designation CPA

_Experience:
_

years of experience in general accounting experience; including financial statements preparation and analysis


_Skills & Abilities:
_


  • Knowledge of IFRS
  • Experience with accounting software, specifically Oracle Hyperion HFM and Yardi
  • Strong analytical skills and possesses a natural interest towards analytical activities and investigation, as well as strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excel proficiency is mandatory
  • Ability to manage and validate large amounts of data
  • Excellent interpersonal communications and the ability to present ideas in a user friendly format
  • Easily adapts to changes, delays, or unexpected events in the work environment
  • The ability to organize and prioritize work to meet defined deadlines in a large fastpaced work environment
  • A focus on continuous improvement and quality.
  • Demonstrates Chartwell's values of RESPECT.
  • Presentation of criminal record check
  • Participation in all conferences and educational courses, as required
  • Flexibility in hours will be required during peak periods

Effort

  • Work requires a high degree of mental effort to analyze situations, verify information, and working with a computer.
  • Physical effort will be in the form of keyboarding or walking to periodic meetings.
