Description

Headquartered in a National Historic Site, the Ontario Heritage Trust (OHT) requires your expertise to undertake projects and activities in support of OHT's mandate and to develop and deliver province-wide community heritage programs.

This highly rewarding role as Community Programs Officer will involve developing and maintaining effective community outreach liaison partnerships and communicating on behalf of the Trust with other heritage conservation organizations, the corporate sector, boards of education and the public throughout Ontario.

What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • Develop and maintain effective community outreach, partnerships and communications on behalf of the Trust;
  • Oversee the planning, development and implementation of consultative processes between the Trust and its stakeholders;
  • Create and implement community development initiatives with community representatives and organizations to strengthen the heritage sector;
  • Develop, conduct and implement research and educational programs, projects and materials for delivery to clients and stakeholders.

How do I qualify?:


Mandatory:


  • You possess a valid class G driver's Ontario driver's license or equivalent

Community Development Skills:


  • You have knowledge of community engagement principles and change strategies.
  • You can acquire knowledge of volunteerbased organizations' operations and practices to provide community development services, enhance and expand heritage program outreach to broaden youth engagement, and develop new and diverse audiences.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:


  • You possess oral communication skills to effectively convey information, conduct meetings, and address groups in public forums.
  • You have written communication skills to prepare issue papers, annual reports and briefing materials.
  • You have interpersonal skills to negotiate project terms and conditions, build consensus with clients, and successfully manager relationships with external stakeholders.

Research, Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:

  • You can develop and implement innovative and creative programs and initiatives
  • You can assess and improve heritage program effectiveness, assess issues and determine the viability of existing and potential strategies and initiatives
  • You can plan and deliver complex projects

Computer Skills:


  • You have experience using Microsoft Office and SharePoint to prepare reports, correspondence, and input and retrieve data
