Position Summary


The Corporate Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the procurement process, with a primary focus on vendor management, process improvement, and people management.

This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that the organization's procurement activities are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with strategic objectives.

Experience with working with HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) and/or general contracting companies is considered an asset.


Role Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing vendors.
  • Identify and assess potential new vendors and negotiate contracts.
  • Monitor vendor performance and implement strategies to enhance vendor accountability.
  • Resolve vendor disputes and issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes to drive efficiency and cost savings.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to streamline procurement operations.
  • Develop and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance and consistency.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to align procurement processes with organizational goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the procurement team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Provide coaching and training to team members
  • Work with key stakeholders to identify sourcing opportunities and develop strategic sourcing plans.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends and supplier capabilities.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic negotiations and supplier collaboration.
  • Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring that spending remains within established limits.
  • Monitor and report on procurementrelated expenses and savings.
  • Ensure procurement activities adhere to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate procurementrelated risks.
  • Establish and maintain a robust supplier risk assessment program.
  • Generate and analyze procurementrelated reports and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management.

Required Professional Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, vendor management, and strategic sourcing.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a crossfunctional environment.
  • Certification in supply chain management or procurement (e.g., CSCP, CPM) is a plus.
  • Experience with HVACR and/or construction is considered an asset.
