Nature of Position

The CCRR Assistant is responsible for the effective delivery of Child Care Resource & Referral services, including the Toy Library and Affordable Child Care Benefit Support. The CCRR Assistant will work 25hrs/week including Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and one evening per week.

Qualifications

Early Childhood Education Assistant, or minimum of one year experience OR a combination of related training and experience.

Valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to a vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

Supports parents/caregivers in finding childcare and applying for grants and child care subsidy.

Responds to information requests from parents, care providers, and the general public.

Engages children and their parents/caregivers during play-based learning programs.

Supports networking and peers supports for families with young children and child care providers.

Supports families/caregivers with navigating community resources and referrals to professionals/programs.

Assists the CCRR team's outreach and resources to childcare providers.

Maintains a toy/equipment lending library, ensuring safety by doing, at the minimum, annual safety checks.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Ability to work effectively with families, professionals, community members and potential service providers.

Demonstrated knowledge of child growth development.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate programs and workshops.

Knowledge of standards and requirements of Community Care Facilities Licensing Child Care Act and Regulations as well as Child Care Subsidy process.

Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

Strong organizational skills.

Requirements

Successful completion of a criminal record check.

Valid BC Driver's License, reliable vehicle, clean driving record, and the ability to obtain business use insurance.

Early Intervention and Prevention Training.
