Are you a meticulous numbers wizard with a passion for accuracy and a knack for managing complex payroll processes? We're seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join our team and ensure seamless payroll operations for our organization.

The Universal Group has an exciting opportunity for an Payroll Administrator to join our Finance team.

Reporting to the Senior Payroll Manager the payroll administrator partners with members of the Finance team to drive forward our purpose of providing Peace of Mind to our clients and our employees.

Who You Are
You are a motivated individual with a passion for analytical thinking and developing new procedures. You are an experienced payroll administrator with your payroll certification. You are eager to join a growing organization with future opportunities for growth.


You are focused on being detail-oriented and have experience working with a team on collaborative projects while at times staying on top of multiple tasks at once.


The Role
Conducts payroll and accounting transactions in an efficient, accurate & timely manner. Maintaining and updating payroll information and resolving any discrepancies. Ensuring compliance by following policies and procedures. Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations and collective agreements. Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork. Providing the accountant with administrative support in payroll and accounting.


What you will do

  • Process timely and accurate payroll for employees
  • Collect, verify and enter data into Quickbooks
  • Review time sheets, work charts, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
  • Provide information on payroll matters, benefit deductions and collective agreement provisions
  • Compile, review, and monitor statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts
  • Prepare and balance periodend reports and reconcile payroll items i.e. union dues, garnishments etc.
  • Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies
  • Provides feedback and assist in implementation of payroll policies, procedures to make payroll processes more efficient
  • Prepare payroll related filings and supporting documentation, such as yearend tax statements, pension, Records of Employment and other statements
  • Manage garnishments, monthly union reports and quarterly payroll tax reports.
  • Keep track of leave time, such as vacation, personal, and sick leave, for employees
  • Provide information to employees and managers on payroll matters, tax issues, benefit plans, and collective agreement provisions.
  • Play vital role in the implementation of UKG

Qualifications

  • Payroll Experience
  • PCP Certified
  • Basic accounting knowledge
  • Postsecondary training is an asset
  • Experience with payroll software/systems and general proficiency with Microsoft Windows (Excel, Word)
  • Attention to detail & accuracy
