Salary:
$21.93** (Rate will be $1 less during probationary period - 900 hours worked).
Shifts Available and Hours:
- We are a unionized company
- New hires may be required to rotate shifts (Midnights, Afternoons and Day shift the frequency of the rotation will be determined by the manager).
- Pension with Canada Wide Industrial Pension Plan employer and employee contributions (Employer $1.57 per hour worked, Employee $0.75 per hour worked).
- Vacation 2 weeks as per the Collective Agreement to start, after 5 years, increases to 3 weeks.
Required Education/Experience:
- Prior knowledge of extrusion department desired
- Basic reading and mathematics skills
- Must be able to work in extreme temperatures (hot/cold)
Responsibilities:
- Remove billet from furnace, guide it along extrusion press conveyor onto press bed and into billet container
- Start ram that spreads billet into container and forces it through press
- Regulate rate of extrusion to prevent metal rupture an adherence of metal to container walls
- Start press runout table and butt shears to guide extrusion from press and to trim flash
- Record data, such as time, number of billet use and items processed
- May operate extrusion press equipped with furnace that ejects hot billets into press chamber for ram to force through die.
- Inspect or measure using precision measuring instruments such as tape measure, calipers, height gage, micrometers etc.
- Read blueprints to extent necessary for the job at hand
- Set up and operate extrusion press to shape hot, aluminum profiles
