Our Liquid Waste Services Department is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I who is a passionate and skilled professional in the industry. We are looking for someone who is interested in expanding their knowledge and experience in this industry.
You are a committed Certified Operator who can work efficiently, safely, and cooperatively within a team environment. You describe yourself as an enthusiastic learner with a positive outlook.
This role:

- Performs and assists in the operation and monitoring of equipment throughout the plant.
- Performs and assists in the maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, motors, valves, instruments, etc.
- Performs and assists in a variety of process sampling operations and simple laboratory tests.
- Lubricates and cleans machinery and equipment; performs "housekeeping" and general maintenance work throughout the plant.
- Assists in maintaining operating records.
- Operates ancillary equipment such as trucks, small tractors, lawn mowers, pressure washers, etc.
- Assists in the development of documentation for workrelated procedures.
- Works in compliance with all District safety policies, procedures and WCB regulations.
To be successful, you have:
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Possess or be able and qualified to secure British Columbia EOCP Class I MWWT Operators Certification. Demonstrated willingness and ability to undertake additional training relating to the duties of the position including progress towards WWTPO IV Certification. The highest EOCP MWWT Certificate or recognized reciprocal equivalent achieved shall be maintained in good standing and a copy of the Certificate shall be filed in the employee file in Human Resources as proof of eligibility.
- British Columbia Boiler Operator or higher level certification for Plants where certification of Operators is required for compliance with the Power Engineers and Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Act of British Columbia. If no Boiler Operator certification is held, a demonstrated willingness and ability to obtain it.
- Working knowledge of process equipment. Working knowledge of the occupational hazards, WCB regulations, safety policies and procedures applicable to the position.
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the position.
- Willingness and ability to adapt to rotating shift work and/or be available for standby duty if required.
- Valid B.C. driver's license.
