The Anglican Diocese of Niagara is seeking a full-time administrative assistant to provide comprehensive organizational, policy, and communications support for the planning and implementation of its various ministries, programs, events, and governance work.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Provide administrative support to the executive officer & secretary of synod, as well as congregational support and development staff.
  • Assist with the planning and operation of synods; organizing site logistics, compiling documents for the convening circular and journal of proceedings, liaising with Synod committees and communicating with members of synod as necessary.
  • Assist with the planning of monthly Synod Council meetings, including coordinating meetings, assembling and posting documents, preparing PowerPoint presentations, organizing logistics, taking meeting minutes, and following up on decisions made.
  • Coordinate the registration, site arrangements, and communications related to Children, Youth and Family Ministry, Congregational Support, and Justice & Outreach programs and events.
  • Serve as the registrar of the Bishop's Company: tracking membership, coordinating communications, organizing event logistics in coordination with other staff.
  • Provide administrative support in the management of diocesan property matters.
  • Administrative support for diocesan grants programs.
  • Provide general support to diocesan staff in support of the ministry of the diocese, and administrative assistance as directed by the Bishop or Executive Officer from time to time.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate with a diverse array of people
  • Able to work under one's own initiative, with demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize while meeting the complex demands of several stakeholders and their competing deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and other Microsoft Suite products, Eventbrite, MailChimp, and Zoom is essential. Experience with Raiser's Edge database would be an asset.
  • Experience maintaining effective filing structures both electronic and paper
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that inspire confidence and trust
  • Maintains highest degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to work occasional evenings for Synod Council meetings
  • Familiarity with the life, culture, values and vision of the Anglican Church of Canada as expressed in the Diocese of Niagara would be a definite asset

Terms of Employment

  • Fulltime employment; salary and benefits commensurate with experience
  • Current and satisfactory Police Record Check
