    Description

    Job Summary:

    Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Educator is responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation and coordination of educational programs that will enable nursing staff and support staff to acquire and develop the knowledge and skills to fulfill professional practice standards and competency requirements to support quality patient care, patient service excellence, and the advancement of professional nursing practice at CancerCare Manitoba. The Nurse Educator participates in the development and implementation of selected educational programs (eg. Orientation, post-basic programs, certification/recertification and continuing education) for nursing staff/students and nursing support staff/students. The Nurse Educator also participates in quality improvement and risk management, policy/procedure and standards development, projects and research initiatives throughout the organization. The Nurse Educator is expected to contribute to inter-professional education and patient/family education activities as appropriate. The successful incumbent must have the flexibility to move between the CancerCare Manitoba Winnipeg sites.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

  • Bachelor of Nursing
  • Current registration with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM)
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) at instructor level or willingness to obtain
  • Minimum of four years' recent oncology nursing experience
  • Knowledge of the principles of adult learning and teaching strategies
  • Excellent English comprehension with both written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Word/Excel/PPT/Outlook
  • Strong knowledge of ARIA or electronic charting
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Satisfactory employment record
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada

    • Will be assessed during the interview process:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, teamwork and cooperation, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, decision making, and the ability to function creatively and independently during complex situations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills

    • Preferred:

  • Masters of Nursing
  • Certification in Oncology nursing – CON(C)

    • Asset:

  • Previous experience in teaching, education and program development, including evaluation
