DESCRIPTION:


Working for REMCAN's Bridges and Structures department, no two days will ever be the same. The Bridges and Structures (B&S) work environment provides exciting new challenges daily. The focus on safety, productivity, outperforming against client needs are three important aspects of the work you will be involved in.

As a Bridgeperson in the Bridges and Structures department, you will be responsible for:

  • General maintenance, repair, and inspection of railway bridges and bridge components
  • Transporting materials and working at heights
  • Reading and understanding detailed drawings and sketches of work to be performed
  • Must be able to qualify in Fall Arrest and Scaffolding Installation (where required)
  • Perform physical activities such as frequent lifting / carrying up to 50 lbs (20 kg) and occasionally up to 70 lbs (32 kg)
  • Complying with safe work procedures and policies and applicable CROR rules

WORKING CONDITIONS:


The work you are assigned in this role is performed outdoors in various types of weather, environmental conditions as well as in remote locations. Assigned work shifts will vary and will include weekdays, weekends, and holidays. The role required being available to respond to critical incidents and accidents on a rotational basis. The role also requires travel which will include overnight assignments away from home.

TO APPLY:


REQUIREMENTS:


  • MUST be able to pass eRailsafe a federal security clearance and assigned training
  • Can demonstrate a proficiency in carpentry techniques such as framing, measuring and building forms
  • Has experience in working at heights in and around railway bridge structures (concrete, wood, or steel)
  • Is able to read and understand blueprint drawings
  • Has experience working with or around heavy equipment including cranes, backhoes, frontend loaders, excavators and hydraulic and / or pneumatic tools
  • Must be comfortable working at heights including ladders and scaffolding
  • Has experience working in a highly regulated, safetyfocused environment
  • Has the ability to work well individually as well as in a team environment
  • Must provide valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract
  • Must pass a preemployment drug test
  • Must work within REMCAN's and our client's safety guidelines and policies
  • Must be physically fit and able to life up to 50 lbs
