PURPOSE AND SCOPE
As a member of the Community Services Department, this position will provide safe supervision and leadership for children and youth ages 4 -16 years with age-appropriate, well-planned games and activities for their designated camp group, and be a role-model and resource to all other camp staff/leaders. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensuring the safety and supervision of the participants and following all rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations.
Assist with the development, implementation, supervision and evaluation of the daily activities, to ensure a successful program.
Assist with the proper handling and care of the equipment, supplies and facilities utilized, and reporting damages or losses to the Camp Coordinator.
Be a resource to your fellow leaders in regards to adaptive programming requirements to better meet the needs of campers with both identified and unidentified behaviours and/or diagnosed campers who require specialized programming.
Ensures the completion and submission of the required administrative forms (i.e. accident forms, supply requests, special event forms, etc.).
Staff will be required to participate in daily activities with the campers (which may including swimming).
Evaluate the overall success of the program; submit reports and feedback to the Summer Camp Coordinator.
Attend all Summer Staff Training sessions and scheduled staff meetings.

Note: Above duties are representative of a typical position and are not to be construed as all-inclusive. KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TRAINING/SKILLS :

Post-secondary student or graduate, studying in a child-related field of study with a focus on child behaviour management techniques.
Hold a current Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
Hold the High Five - Healthy Child Development certification.
Valid 'G' Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle is required for some positions.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two (2) years/seasons of experience working with children as a Camp Leader or equivalent experience working with children in a recreational or teaching setting.
Experience with program/lesson planning, design, development, and implementation of children's age-appropriate activities.
Supervisory experience would be an asset.
