Job Summary

Reporting to the Superintendent, Leadership, Capacity Building and School Partnerships, the Manager, Strategic Partnerships and Business Development will be responsible for developing partnerships that help support Peel District School Board's reputation as an academic leader driving the use of emerging teaching and partnership models in public education.

They will work with the leadership team in identifying and pursuing creative opportunities. The incumbent will excel at relationship management, opportunity mapping, strategic visioning and business development.

They will also be current on emerging trends in education and training, the labour market, and how it relates to PDSB ability and capacity to lead in a competitive landscape.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manages relationships with industry, community, and government representatives as an executive to promote Strategic Initiatives and enhance the image and reputation of the PDSB as an innovative and collaborative partner.
  • Directs and develops strategic opportunities through participation on committees, attending events, making presentations in the community for provincial and national groups/organizations in the public and private sector, under the direction of the Superintendent.
  • Ambassador / Leader for the Peel District School Board at networking functions to promote PDSB's services and reputation as a leader in the field of education, to spread the strategic partnerships, Pathways and Transitions' objective, and to foster collaboration with partners.
  • Strategically connects Partnerships with Schools and creates opportunities for students that align with system priorities, especially as it pertains to pathways/transitions and employability skills.
  • Maintains relationships with school administrators to review partnership planning modules constructs program implementation plans.
  • Leads crossdepartmental collaboration within PDSB (ie. LTSS, Legal, Equity, Curriculum and Research Departments) on gathering evidence of impact on student achievement, wellbeing, and engagement data (including post graduation outcomes).
  • Leads capacity building and professional development training for PDSB business staff.
  • Identifies, negotiates and secures crosssectorial collaboration opportunities between industry partners, PDSB, and community organizations to create valueadd for all stakeholders, on behalf of the Peel District School Board, in consultation with the Superintendent and presents to the Superintendent and Directors Council.
  • Manages and identifies the knowledge / information gaps between industry and education and creates awareness of current and future student needs (informed by data analysis of underserved/underrepresented demographic data) and trends to ensure that the PDSB remains an innovative leader in education.
  • Provides strong executive level leadership, advice, expertise and guidance to the Superintendents, Director / Associate Directors, Office and Staff on industry trends, governmental priorities, and strategic positioning.
  • Demonstrates commitment to personal growth and development.

Management of Strategic Initiatives and Projects

  • Strategically considers opportunities to identify competitive advantages for the PDSB and its students, utilizing key relationships with Industry, under the direction of the Superintendent.
  • Outlines and implements short and longrange organizational goals and strategies to realize strategic initiatives; monitors and evaluates effectiveness; recommends and implements changes as required to Directors Office and Department Superintendent.
  • Provides senior level leadership and guidance for the business planning process by setting and validating goals and performance indicators to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Sources, negotiates (in consultation with the Superintendent) and manages public / private partnerships that generate value for PDSB students, teachers, administrators and the Board as a whole.
  • Has deep competence and knowledge on the future of work, employability skills, pathways and transitions for students.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in education, business, social work or related field of knowledge.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years or equivalent experience and related experience in public or private sector settings.
  • Ability to execute politically sensitive, complex and multifunctional projects and processes.
  • Ability to see the big picture without losing sight of the details and their implications.
  • Strategic thinking, negotiation and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong report writing, presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and conflict resolution skills.
