Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), as the Historic Waste Program (HWP) Management Office in Port, Hope Ontario implements Canada's largest low-level radioactive waste (LLRW) environmental remediation project.

We are looking for a
Project Coordinator (Field) - Construction**. Can you see yourself providing support and direct oversight to remediation/restoration activities under various PHAI scopes of work to ensure compliance with regulatory, contract specifications and design requirements? Does the idea of being part of the soil remediation/restoration team and working directly under the direction of the Construction Manager interest you? What will you be doing

  • Interacting directly with internal stakeholders and other contributing parties involved in the development and implementation of the management of LLRW located at a variety of sites around the Port Hope Community.
  • Actively assisting with the definition, coordination and implementation of the various engineering work packages under the scope of services described as site remediation.
  • Preparing/reviewing various project documents including TSWs, SOWs, project schedules, and project budgets.
  • Participating in evaluations of contractor performance against contract requirements and key performance indicators
  • Reviewing contractor submittals (work plans, shop drawings, schedules, SOPs, reports, costs/ invoices, etc.), and ensuring scope requirements are met.
  • Reviewing technical studies and detailed reports prepared by design consultants and other contributing parties to ensure high quality (technical accuracy and appropriateness) and consistency with formatting documentation standards.
  • Completing research and providing expert advice of practical and economical solutions to specific engineering problems encountered by the project.
  • Monitoring technical progress on engineering and design work activities, studies and contracts, against standards, objectives and specifications.
  • Monitoring deliverables for technical accuracy and adequacy, while checking calculations, and assessing needs for potential changes in scope, cost, schedule or quality.
  • Liaising with and assisting members of the Port Hope Integrated Project Team in the interpretation and use of technical specifications, drawings, and documents to advance remediation work.
  • Other duties as assigned by one's manager.

Do you have the following abilities and skills?

  • Superior verbal communication and technical writing skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with personnel of varying disciplines.
  • Have a basic understanding of the Ontario Building Code and/or have undertaken OBC related study/courses.
  • Knowledge of engineering procedures and practices, organization and quality processes.
  • Good understanding of compliance program requirements, knowledgeable of procurement practices and contract management.
  • Knowledge of project management principles (scope, schedule, time, quality, risk) and handson experience in the management of engineering activities during the various phases of a project.

Location:


  • This role is based out of CNL's Port Hope location, which will be the designated workplace. CNL may require you to travel from time to time, as necessary.
  • CNL's Historic Waste Program Management Office is in the beautiful and historic community of Port Hope, Ontario. Roughly 100kms East of Toronto, Port Hope is l ocated at the mouth of the Ganaraska River on the north shore of Lake Ontario, in the west end of Northumberland County. Basically, still close enough to the "Big City" without all the hassle of being in the "Big City".
  • As a leader in environmental remediation at nuclear and radiologically contaminated sites, CNL is implementing the Port Hope Area Initiative on behalf of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited. The cleanup of historic Low Level Radioactive Waste by CNL in the communities of Port Hope and Port Granby in Ontario is a demonstration of Canada's commitment to the safe, longterm storage and management of nuclear waste.
