Join the Canadian Marketing Association, the voice of the marketing profession in Canada. The CMA serves over 400 corporate, not-for-profit, public and post-secondary members, including Canada's most prestigious brands.


The CMA is looking for a Manager, Public Relations to join our team This role is responsible for ensuring the CMA's messaging on key marketing topics and public policy issues is consistent and compelling in all external communications.

The role entails working with senior management, and with the CMA's PR firm, to help elevate the CMA's presence and voice.


The position reports to the Vice-President of Public Affairs and Thought Leadership and works collaboratively to enable the Association to pro-actively pursue opportunities to elevate the voice of the CMA and of the marketing community to ensure the CMA is viewed as forward-looking, and to help marketers thrive in an ever-changing environment.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Produce highquality blogs and other content for senior management on key topics
  • Be aware of CMA's advocacy efforts and contribute to the development of the CMA's positioning on public policy issues
  • Develop and maintain a repository of key messages on important topics
  • Review and edit thought leadership content to ensure it conforms to the CMA Style Guide, and consult with SMEs as needed to ensure the content is consistent with CMA positions on policy and public issues
  • Support the CMA's media relations program, including working with our PR agency
  • Draft media releases and advisories, Q&A documents, blogs and speeches for senior management and other materials as required
  • Prepare FAQs to prepare senior management for interviews
  • Assist with the development and production of research and research reports
  • Assist with Committees, Councils or Regional Forums as needed
  • Moderate the CMA's thought leadership portal
  • Encourage and support the adoption of the CMA Style Guide by colleagues and Council/Committee members
  • Provide administrative and governance support to the team on special projects, and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in public relations, communications, journalism or equivalent from a recognized educational institution
  • 4 to 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent communications skills including exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable with technology and project management platforms
  • Prior experience providing support to a Board of Directors an asset
  • A collaborative and positive outlook and a desire to support colleagues and members
  • Strong digital literacy, and proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, etc
  • Knowledge of French would be an asset

$50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
