What is the opportunity?

The Environmental Project Manager, Engineering & Environment reports directly to the Manager, Environment.

This position is based out the Leduc Operations Building and is responsible for implementing environmental initiatives from the City of Leduc's Environmental plan.

Currently, amongst a diverse set of actions, one of the primary areas of focus is the implementation of organics collection at multifamily developments and being the administrative representative on the Leduc Environmental Advisory Board (LEAB).

What will you do?

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the Environment team within Engineering & Environment.
  • Undertake environmental initiatives, including multifamily organics collection rollout with community stakeholders and starting to plan for industrial/commercial implementation.
  • Engage as the primary liaison with the Leduc Environmental Advisory Board. LEAB meets in the evening on the second Tuesday of every month.
  • Oversee and plan for the development, implementation, evaluation and marketing of future environmental initiatives as specified in the draft 2024 environmental plan.
  • Participate in and help plan Environmental events like Arbor Day, Business Expo, Recycling Roundup, etc.
  • Work with the communications team on the Pesticide Education Campaign in 202
  • Manage consultants responsible for testing and reporting on two legacy contaminated sites.
What do you need to succeed?

  • Minimum technical Engineering or Environmental Diploma from a recognized technical institution or a Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in environmental, project management, consulting or municipal experience.
  • Knowledge of municipal operations and environmental legislation would be considered an asset.
  • Passion for advancing environmental initiatives.
  • Proven results orientation and ability to collaborate and engage others to achieve common goals
  • An ability to provide coaching, mentoring and technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to a diverse group of stakeholders through both oral presentations and through report writing.
  • Team player who is willing to support their teams' projects and share their knowledge and experience.
  • Current Driver's Abstract with no more than 6 demerits.
