Your opportunity:


The Academic Integrity Unit (AIU) in the Office of the Vice-Principal Academic and Dean(OVPAD) handles all undergraduate academic offence cases at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) in relation to the Code of Behaviour on Academic Matters.


General areas of responsibility of the OVPAD include:

academic programs; academic HR; academic policy and planning; academic experience; academic integrity; academic appeals; experiential education; teaching and learning support; strategic leadership; divisional research and data analysis; graduate affairs; tri-campus affairs; and more.


The Academic Integrity Specialist will report directly to the Director, Academic Success & Integrity and will work closely with other Academic Integrity Specialists, the Academic Appeals and Integrity Coordinator, and the Vice-Dean, Academic Experience on all issues related to academic integrity and misconduct at UTM.

You will work as part of a team to develop relationships with other partners at the University, including academic departments, the Office of the Registrar, the Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre, and the International Education Centre.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Interpreting applicable guidelines and protocols to determine policy violations
  • Investigating and reporting on academic related noncompliance issues
  • Identifying and reporting on measures taken to address noncompliance issues
  • Ensuring resolution of noncompliance cases and transgressions
  • Providing detailed explanations and demonstrating procedures to students and/or employees
  • Providing proactive support to individuals in distress and making referrals to specific university services

Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years of recent and related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, empathy, sound judgment and discretion
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent communications (oral and written) skills
