The Position - Afternoon Weekend Youth and Family Support Worker:

The Weekend position provides support to youth and oversight for all youths at Summit so that client's needs are met and consistently delivered in community and at Summit.

This position does this by effectively supporting the client, Summit's team and providing services that are experiential learning, strength-based, harm reduction, and trauma-informed in nature.

This position has responsibility for providing care for youth over the weekend, including keeping youth safe, check-ins of the youth, record keeping, and housework.

This also includes point working when necessary.


The position utilizes Motivational Interviewing Wrap Around & High Fidelity Wrap Around to support client's teams to success while upholding Enviro's Principles.

The Weekend Position has an exceptional understanding of navigating systems in particular the justice system, housing support services, health services, and family services in Alberta.

The Weekend Position also understands the Youth Criminal Justice Act, Youth Rights in the listed systems above, and the ability to connect with youth who have been institutionalized in different systems.


Schedule:
Sunday, Monday: 4 pm -12 am; Friday, Saturday: 3 pm-11 pm.


Accountabilities:


Provides Support to Youth and Oversight for Youth's Teams

  • Organizes and communicates with youth and their teams (this includes professional and natural supports) regarding youth's needs in the community. This includes ensuring fiscal integrity, maximizing resource utilization, and providing financial forecasting and reporting as needed to Summit Supervisor.
  • Liaise regularly with the appropriate representatives of the various teams to keep them apprised of areas of concern and successes.
  • Liaise with community partners for successful planning and utilization of resources.
  • Complete dailies, criticals, bed counts, and any other necessary required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Reporting to Summit Supervisor when the youth's team members are not acting in the interest of the youth.
  • Follow and maintain programspecific health and safety protocols and ensure that any potential risks and liabilities are mitigated. This making sure training is fully completed and up to date.
  • Liaise with internal and external team members on updated service policies for youth.
  • Ensure that the overall needs of clients are being met and following Enviros' policies and procedures while utilizing Enviro's Principles.
  • Meeting youth where they are physically at in Summit.
  • Teach youth how to take care of themselves including their personal hygiene, cooking/food safety, how to properly clean and other household tasks.
  • Maintaining the health and safety of everyone in the physical living facility of Summit. This including calling supports such as police and EMS when necessary and/or required. This also includes giving CPR, First Aid, & Naloxone when required.

Ensures Clients Are Empowered and Equipped to Successfully Vocalize Their Needs & Wants to Their Team

  • Assesses, Teaches, and check in with youth in navigating their natural and professional supports.
  • Support youth in developing their leadership and management skills through ongoing strengthbased coaching, mentoring, and support.
  • Empowers youth to make decisions confidently based on the circumstances at hand.
  • Fosters a culture of recognition and appreciation in youth and their teams.
  • Follows and Maintains Enviro's Principlebased Practice with case management.

Community Capacity Building

  • Champion the development, growth, engagement, and retention of youth's support teams to successfully achieve Summit's mission and to help youth stabilize in the community.
