Accessibility Services provides academic accommodations and services for students with disabilities and promotes a fully integrated university experience by ensuring that students have the opportunity to access and participate in all areas of student life.

In partnership with a variety of Student Affairs and academic departments, Accessibility Services provides comprehensive programming throughout each student's university career to foster greater resiliency and promote the development of knowledge and skills that are transferrable to their future goals.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Researching and recommending alternative approaches and possible accommodation solutions as part of the duty to accommodate
  • Advising course instructors and staff on student accommodations issues
  • Conducting a detailed analysis of student feedback and learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
  • Writing confidential student accommodation summaries
  • Providing case management support to students requiring the coordination of multiple services
  • Determining the reasonability of an accommodation in relation to a student's disability

Essential Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in a relevant area of study (e.g. social work, education) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years completing intake and registration for students with disabilities in a fast paced postsecondary student affairs/services department required with strong familiarity with University programs, services, academic requirements, policies, procedures and overarching campus and university structures
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing clinical documentation, including psychoeducational testing reports and psychological evaluations is required.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with persons in emotional distress or conflict.
  • Experience in developing, implementing and monitoring accommodation plans for persons with disabilities and possessing a thorough understanding of disability issues
  • Computer fluency (e.g. Microsoft Word; Excel).
  • Experience with Clockwork Scheduling System required.
  • Knowledge of service provision for students with hearing and visual disabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Critical thinking and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent reading, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, tact, discretion, problem solving skills and to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Must have a commitment to the principles of equity and inclusion and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the implications of disabilities as they relate to a student's success at university and in a broader context.

Assets (Nonessential):


  • Knowledge of assistive technology to support reading and writing (including voice recognition, texttospeech, scheduling and organizational software) an asset.
