POSITION OVERVIEW:


Reporting to the Vice President, Manufacturing; the Quality Control Inspector maintains the integrity of the ASME quality control system for the manufacture of all boilers and pressure vessels at Thermogenics.

The Quality Control Inspector inspects welds, joints and connections to ensure compliance with the quality control program, while providing support and advice to various departments to ensure adherence to high quality standards and reduction of delays related to re-works or poor workmanship.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


Receiving and Tracking Materials

Main Activities:

  • Perform physical checks of materials and verify material certificates; ensure purchased parts meet quality and reliability requirements.
  • Complete Material Receiving Reports and mark all received materials according to quality control program requirements.
  • Allocate received materials appropriately to either inventory or to jobs in progress, ensuring accurately matched part numbers.
  • Release controlled materials to production or jobs and document all released materials for boiler dockets related to back orders.
  • Manage control of weld consumables including the management of electrodes and materials used.
  • Transfer marking to released materials and approve purchase orders.
  • Notify Purchasing department of ordering requirements.
  • Manage the root cause analysis and corrective actions process of any internal or supplier related quality issues
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Other duties as required.

Production Control and Inspection

Main Activities:

  • Ensure that production complies with all quality control processes to eliminate delays and reworks.
  • Ensure production meets required deadlines and complies with established standards.
  • Complete inspections of welds, connections and joints according to quality control manual and welding inspection guidelines.
  • Ensure availability of design and production documentation, updating documents such as ITP and weld maps throughout the production process.
  • Conduct installation of parts fit up and weld, and completed work and assembly inspections to ensure adherence to ASME standards.
  • Update logs accurately according to processes (e.g. boilers, pressure vessels, welders, materials, etc.).
  • Ensure manufacturing records are updated upon completion of each project.
  • Calibrate all instruments according to quality control program specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering departments where required for reworks.
  • Coordinate inspections by external authorized organizations (e.g. TSSA, ASME).
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice quality policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
  • Other duties as required.

Safety and Professionalism

Main Activities:

  • Employ a safetyfirst mindset and contribute to a safe environment daily.
  • Support and train new or less experienced colleagues on quality control program standards.
  • Report any potential hazards (e.g. faulty equipment) or potentially hazardous conditions to management immediately.
  • Ensure good housekeeping in all work spaces.
  • Other duties as required.

TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum 57 years' related working experience
  • Possess knowledge of relevant skilled trade's skills including welding, fitting and gas fitting.
  • Previous experience with quality control inspections.
  • Competency in MS Office suite programs (Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat or equivalent.

Term, Hours of Work and Compensation:
This position is a full-time role with a three (3) month probationary period.


Hours of work are 40 hours / week and structured according to the plant schedule as follows:

Monday - Thursday 6:30am - 5:00 pm may also be from 6:30 am to 3:45 pm Monday to Thursday and 6:30 am to 11:30 am on Friday.

The role is entitled to paid vacation time off; including statutory holidays. We have a full benefit package and retirement savings plan.
