Position Summary:
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- supporting students in the full-day Kindergarten classrooms
- assisting students with moderate to severe learning and behaviour needs such as autism, physical disabilities, cognitive delays and/or require significant behavioural support
- supporting students who are learning English as an Additional Language or have experienced trauma
- assisting with planning and adapting curriculum to meet the individual needs of students under the guidance of the teacher
- providing one-on-one and small group support in the area of academics, emotional regulation, social development and self-care
- supervising students indoors and outdoors
- assisting students with personal care including toileting
Education/Qualifications:
- completion of a post secondary program in a related field
- a minimum two years of related experience preferably in an educational environment
- experience working with and providing interventions to students who have developmental delays and learning disabilities
- experience supporting students who have emotional and/or behavioural challenges
- proven ability to implement effective de-escalation strategies
- excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- proven success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
- NVCI, First Aid
Rate of Pay:
$ $28.70 per hour
