The Finance Department at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is currently seeking a Manager to lead a team of 7 direct reports responsible for the Hospital's financial reporting and audit functions.

This permanent, full-time position reports to the Director, Financial Services.

Summary of Duties

  • Coach and mentor 7 direct reports
  • Lead all aspects of the Hospital's month end/year end financial close procedures
  • Oversee the preparation and review of the Hospital's monthly and annual financial statements and reporting packages
  • Coordinate and lead year end audits including liaising with external auditors
  • Review and document complex accounting transactions, provide guidance and analyze emerging accounting issues to enable understanding of the impact to the Hospital
  • Highlight key financial issues and identify solutions
  • Provide leadership to evolve and effectively enforce best practice internal controls
  • Provide oversight for special purspose funds and processing of payroll entries/reconciliations
  • Manage revenue recognition process, including management and monitoring of funding letters
  • Act as an expert level point of contact within the organization for accounting and audit related issues and reporting matters

Qualifications/Skills

  • CPA designation required
  • Minimum 3 years management experience leading reporting and audit activities
  • Exceptional technical accounting skills. Knowledge of PSAS preferred
  • Excellent problemsolving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship of staff
  • Advanced project management skills
  • Self motivated, a team player who can engage the team to excel
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a large and complex organization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong customer centric approach
  • Healthcare experience preferred but not mandatory
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as required
