The Ministry of Justice is responsible for government law reform, the administration of justice, and for providing legal services that ensure lawful public administration.

The Ministry provides leadership to the justice sector and delivers justice services.

  • To provide court clerk services to the Court and provide administrative assistance within the Registry. To provide administrative support to the civil and/or criminal courts in the processing of documentation required by the court system to accurately reflect court results. To maintain court files ensuring integrity of case data in the case tracking systems. To provide case information to all users of the court system. To provide financial, administrative support and counter services (with limited signing authorities) to support the Supreme and Provincial Court.

Job Requirements:


  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent
  • Two years office experience or one year office experience and a minimum of one year education/training in a legal related field
  • Must have a minimum of 40 WPM keyboarding
  • An equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training may be considered
  • Experience delivering customer service
  • Experience as Court Clerk/or Registry Clerk
  • Experience in Circuit Courts
  • Experience with accounting, cash handling and/or accounting reconciliation
  • Experience with Court Clerk Desktop (CCD)

Different combinations of relevant experience, education and/or training may result in an applicant meeting these qualifications.

Provisos:


  • Must pass enhanced security screening checks
  • Union membership is required
  • Must be willing to attend and complete relevant training programs
  • Must hold a BC standard Class 5 Driver's License
  • Must be required to travel, including travel in adverse weather conditions and work in other geographical areas, including circuit court locations
  • Must have reliable transportation and/or be willing to travel with others
  • May be required to work flexible hours, including varied shifts and overtime on short notice
  • For part time positions: the hours and days of work will vary depending on operational demand.
Working extra hours may be required and short notice schedule changes may be required
About this Position:

An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.

  • This is a 0.50 FTE 35 hours biweekly irregularly scheduled position.
