Position Qualifications:


  • Experienced healthcare professional with a health sciences background and/or regulated healthcare profession.
  • Successful completion of an IPAC Canada endorsed basic training course in Infection Prevention and Control.
  • RNAO BPG Champion (preferred)
  • Three to five years of clinical experience in a hospital setting required; at least two years' experience working in Infection Prevention and Control is preferred.
  • Certification (or eligible for certification) from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) preferred
  • Possesses knowledge and/or has job related experience in the health care field and is familiar with patient care practices.
  • Member of the National Infection Control Association (IPAC Canada) preferred.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively articulate the important components of infection prevention and control program with all levels of personnel/clients.
  • Expert Infection Prevention & Control knowledge and demonstrates the ability to integrate this knowledge utilizing educational principles in program development and teaching.
  • Possesses the ability to act as a resource and problem solve Infection Prevention & Control issues.
  • Possesses knowledge of CSA Standards (CSA certification preferred) and experience with construction and renovations within health care facility.
  • Possesses knowledge of epidemiological principles, statistics, microbiology and infectious diseases.
  • Possesses knowledge of and utilizes the principles of continuous quality improvement.
  • Works independently and is selfmotivated and selfdirected while possessing the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrates expert verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in interpersonal, communication, teaching, coaching, and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible and able to work effectively with mínimal supervision.
  • Excellent attendance records.
  • Adherence to all health and safety policies, procedures and provisions and the recognition and reporting of unsafe hazards and work practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Our area of focus provides a continuum of service throughout the life span of the people we serve including Emergency, Critical Care, Obstetrics, Medicine, Surgery, and Complex Continuing Care. Employing approximately 550 highly skilled and dedicated employees, Norfolk General Hospital is a full service, 106-bed hospital with 24/7 on-call coverage of Specialists in Surgery, Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, and Obstetrics as well as on-site 24-hour per day medical coverage. Positions may also provide support to the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home, an 80-bed long-term care facility. Simcoe is less than one hour away from most major centres, including Hamilton and London, and only 90 minutes from the Greater Toronto Area. Situated in Norfolk County (Ontario's South Coast), Simcoe is not far from Lake Erie and the 88 miles of shoreline that includes long stretches of sandy beach.


The West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH) is a rural community hospital in the town of Hagersville, southwestern Ontario, which provides basic hospital and health care services to the people of Hagersville, Caledonia, Jarvis, Townsend, Cayuga, Fisherville, Selkirk, Nanticoke, the Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve and the Mississaugas the New Credit First Nation Reserve.

West Haldimand has a 23 bed acute care Inpatient Unit, 24/7 Emergency Department, Ambulatory clinics and provides perioperative services for same-day surgical patients.

Hagersville is less than one hour away from most major centres, including Hamilton and Brantford, and only 90 minutes from the Greater Toronto Area.
