Your Contribution:
As a
Civil Technician, you will work in collaboration with the
Engineering team.


Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Assisting the Project Managers, Engineers and Technicians in fulfilling multidisciplinary civil, construction risk and structural health monitoring, geotechnical, environmental, geosciences, remediation, groundwater, and soil related projects across Southern Ontario;
  • Coordinating and performing preconstruction condition surveys, vibration and noise monitoring of buildings and structures for construction and blasting related projects;
  • Carrying out field geotechnical materials testing and sampling at work sites, potentially including soil compaction testing, concrete testing, asphalt field compaction and sampling;
  • Consistently executing prescribed company technical procedures, safe work practices and work plans while completing field, laboratory, and office work;
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning, and monitoring of geotechnical and structural health instrumentation sensors and data collection networks;
  • Recording test data and preparing factual reports, summaries, data sheets or graphs for interpretation of test results by the supervisor;
  • Help maintain databases of records for precondition survey files, calibration certificates, equipment manuals and applicable standards;
  • Participating in project management, site and staff planning meetings;
  • Handling difficult situations with tact and diplomacy to maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external contacts; and
  • Performing other related duties as required.

Your Profile:

  • College Diploma in the Civil Engineering Field (Technician or Technology Level);
  • Understanding of civil engineering and construction;
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to the team's goals;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English;
  • Strong technical writing skills, ability to present information concisely and clearly in reports;
  • Proficient with use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint);
  • Ability to handle multitasking and maintain focus in a busy workplace;
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure;
  • Must be available on occasion to work evenings, nights, and weekends to meet project needs;
  • Ability to problemsolve and tackle new assignments effectively and efficiently;
  • Ability to work out of town, if required; and
  • Rotation work at remote mining sites is a possibility.
