Job Summary:
As part of a team alongside Public Health Nurses and a Registered Dietitian, this role contributes to the execution of weekly Halton Prenatal Programs across diverse community sites.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Purchase groceries according to menus, within allocated food budget
- Provide site set up and clean up, including the set up and takedown of folding tables and chairs
- Prepare, demonstrate and serve meals following safe food handling techniques to participants
- Meet and greet participants
- Attend HPNP planning/staff meetings as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
Essential
- Secondary school diploma
- Safe Food Handler course or equivalent certified training in food safety
- Strong organizational, time management, and written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated skills in food purchasing, preparation and budgeting
- The ability to promote and uphold principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Experience preparing a wide variety of ethno/cultural meals, including vegetarian and vegan meals
Preferred
- Experience working with priority populations
- Current certificate in adult/child CPR

- Travel will be required between locations within Halton Region; must supply own transportation.

- Current (obtained within the past six (6) months) original and acceptable Criminal Record Check by the first day of employment.
