The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology (LMP) occupies a unique position at the interface between basic biomedical science andclinical practice.

We are an assembly of over 350 investigators, scientists, and clinicians, who educate and mentor trainees pursuing undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate medical studies, engaged in investigating disease mechanisms and patterns and translating new knowledge and discoveries into improved health outcomes for patients and populations.


Situated in LMP, the Temerty Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Education in Medicine (T-CAIREM), an interdepartmental centre, serves as a focal point for collaboration between computer scientists, healthcare providers, trainees, medical basic science researchers and industry to advance health through machine learning.

The mission of the Centre is to advance research, education, knowledge dissemination and digital infrastructure in the field of AI in medicine.


T-CAIREM aims to be a global leader in facilitating high quality, accessible educational offerings and research collaborations at the intersection of AI and health.

T-CAIREM seeks to build capacity to reflect the emerging role of AI in healthcare professions and to build strategic partnerships to implement new solutions that can transform practice.


Your opportunity:


Working closely with the T-CAIREM leadership and the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, the Business Development Officer will play a key role in T-CAIREM's growth and success.

You will work to promote both internal and external research,educational, and development collaborations to grow the centre's mandate, through the rollout and expansion of its affiliates program and sustainability plan.

Duties that will support in securing external funding will include introducing exclusive engagement and recognition offerings to prospective private and public enterprises.

You will also work to raise the national and international profile of the centre.


Finally, the Business Development Officer will ensure that communications best reflect T-CAIREM's vision, mission, and strategic priorities to broadcast the work and attract potential partners and affiliates.

Your ability to support the growth of T-CAIREM's robust network and your understanding of data sciences and big data analytics will have considerable impact on T-CAIREM's leading reputation.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Identifying, developing and executing strategies for research and educational collaborations;
  • Analyzing market data to determine trends and effectiveness of programs and initiatives;
  • Researching and recommending new opportunities for external collaborations and partnerships;
  • Promoting initiatives and offerings to increase centre's visibility and reputation;
  • Promoting the University's research and educational capabilities to industrial, governmental and finance sectors to enhance funding opportunities;
  • Implementing sales and marketing plans to increase revenuegenerating activities; analyzing and forecasting revenuegenerating activities;
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials;
  • Recommending sponsorship opportunities and writing proposals.

Essential Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree in a related data sciences or data/business analytics field
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience and a proven track record in supporting external partnerships and knowledge mobilization
  • Experience managing complex relationships, strategy development and implementation of academic and research programs, preferably in an academic environment
  • Experience writing proposals to acquire funding for programs
  • Experience working with complex groups and building relationships with academic staff, faculty members and both internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience implementing sales and marketing plans, including developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Excellent entrepreneurial ability; demonstrated initiative
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities; strong project management skills; and ability to meet deadlines and time constraints
  • Superior ability to work collaboratively with faculty members and other contacts
  • Ability to understand and articulate program goals and requirements of industry and academic contacts
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclus
