The Student Centre, part of the Education Department at St.

Michael's Hospital, is currently seeking a highly organized, detailed, and results-oriented individual to help support a superior student experience for all learners.


The Student Centre's mission is to enhance the quality of the student experience by ensuring that all students receive uniform, relevant and effective resources and services within a multipurpose, inter-professional centre.

The Student Centre is a welcoming environment that supports all student types including:
Health Disciplines, Nursing, Medicine (undergraduate and postgraduate), and Administrative & Operational.

This role specifically involves some of, but not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Works collaboratively with team members, hospital and university departments to ensure efficient learner onboarding and registration;
  • Provides excellent customer service while registering, validating and troubleshooting all student placements in person, electronically and within the registration system;
  • Acts as the point person to internal/external stakeholders on a variety of matters related to the Postgraduate Medical Education at Unity Health Toronto (e.g. registration, call rooms, resident stipends, Medical Trainee Data reports, Learner Experience Survey);
  • Responsible for frequent coordination of complex schedules, activities, functions, and events impacting internal and external stakeholders;
  • Coordinates the collection, analysis and distribution of learner & education data/metrics, and participates in scholarly activity as required.
Examples of data could include but is not limited to:
learner survey data, compliance of mandatory prerequisites, pagers, etc.;

  • Prepares the quarterly reconciliation reports and ensures data quality control for the Medical Trainee Data (submitted to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care);
  • Collaborates with, and supports other Student Centre team members to provide additional student services;
  • Coordinates other tasks and projects as needed within the Unity Health Toronto Education portfolio;
  • Coordinates select Student Centre committees, committee meetings, materials etc. and participates and/or leads as required;
  • Conceives of, plans, manages and coordinates orientations and education events. This includes establishing relationships with faculty to lead these programs and inviting them to teach sessions;

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Undergraduate Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience;
  • At least 1 year of practical experience in a student environment e.g. university/college, student support services, academic training hospital/medical education department preferred;
  • Experience with project coordination;
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and confidence interacting with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of an organization;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy and efficient time management;
  • Ability to handle multiple conflicting priorities/projects in a fastpaced environment with frequent interruptions, and meeting deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong computer skills including high proficiency with Microsoft Office and databases, particularly Excel, including demonstrated experience setting up data tables and reports;
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and independently;
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the Mission and Values of Unity Health Toronto;
  • Excellent attendance record and punctuality.
