    This regular full-time (35 hours per week) position is available starting May 13, 2024. Regular hours of work are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Shift days and times may change depending on the Department's need. Occasional evening and/or weekend work will be required. however, the successful candidate must be available for occasional work at the Coquitlam campus. A modified/flexible schedule and/or hybrid work from home arrangement may be considered.

    To provide technical and instructional support to the Stagecraft & Event Technology Program and users of the Performing Arts Facilities.

    advises students with respect to props, lighting, sound, set construction, stage management, house management, etc.;
    supervises and assists students in building, set in and strike of productions;
    demonstrates and assists students with proper machinery, tool and computer use for instructors' assignments;
    ensures adequate inventory of supplies needed for courses and production;
    participates in production meetings and, when requested, helps interpret for students what guest designers/directors are requesting;
    supervises and enforces safety procedures of students within the Stagecraft facilities and instructs students in safety procedures;
    provides supervision for Stagecraft and Theatre students during run of productions;
    provides informal instruction to students with respect to technical aspects of class assignments in a lab (studio) setting.

    Provides technical support to the Stagecraft Program and users of the Performing Arts Facilities within the Performing Arts Facilities.

    maintains a variety of equipment (lighting, sound, rigging and fly gallery, shop tools and equipment);
    sets up and operates all theatre equipment for internal and external productions;
    performs minor maintenance and repairs for Theatre Stage area (walls, seats, carpet, painting);
    cleans stage, booth and shop areas, maintains and coordinates service of Stagecraft and facility equipment;
    when requested, advises users on technical requirements for events and productions;
    supervises and enforces safety procedures of all users while in the Performing Arts Facilities;
    maintains supply inventories including tracking of orders.
    communicates with college and community users to arrange and execute technical aspects of bookings and productions;
    advises facilities personnel of minor theatre cleaning and maintenance needs; advises Coordinator of major theatre maintenance needs;
    maintains current inventory of theatre properties and equipment including rentals and loans;
    Good working knowledge of English (written and verbal).

    Completed a Degree program in Technical Theatre at a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent with three years' related work experience in a wide variety of technical theatre related areas or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Experience with theatre and event rigging, theatre Lighting, Sound, Scenic Carpentry, video systems and A/V streaming systems required.
    Excellent working knowledge of safety measures used in a workshop/performance setting.
    Experience supervising students in a post-secondary environment would be an asset.
    Demonstrate proper and safe use of equipment in the performing arts and shop facilities.

    Monitor the state of resources in a technical theatre setting, and to follow administrative procedures for the recommendation/requesting of necessary maintenance and/or upgrades.

    Good working knowledge of ETC Lighting consoles, analogue and digital sound consoles, VectorWorks CAD , QLab and Isadora computer programs, rigging safety and procedures.

    Analyse shop drawings in order to determine the cost of required supplies as well as source and order materials.
    Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    Driver's license.
