PAYROLL & BENEFITS ADMINISTRATOR

JOB OVERVIEW
The incumbent is responsible for tasks related to both the complex bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll, and to assist in the administration of the company benefit plans.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll Administration
The incumbent is responsible to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll and maintenance of payroll data including:
- Ensuring accuracy of all payroll data, such as, benefits forms, Short-Term and Long-Term Disability forms and Company Pension Plan forms
- Accurately entering payroll information
- Verifying and balancing of payroll
- Submitting payroll to ADP by designated deadline
- Processing new hires, transfers, and terminations
- Preparing and/or approving ROE's and T4's
- Understanding and processing garnishments and family maintenance deductions
- Working with ADP on stop payments/reversals
- Maintaining digital payroll filing system
- Auditing Payroll Registers
- Responding in a timely and appropriate manner to employee and management inquiries regarding payroll data
Benefits Administration
The incumbent is responsible to understand the company benefit and pension plans and to support their administration in the following manner:
- Compiling and distributing benefits packages and cards for new employees
- Maintaining accurate employee information and inputting changes to family status
- Processing MSP and SunLife enrollments and terminations
- Processing STD and LTD forms
- Administering the payment of STD through the payroll system
- Responding to employee questions regarding benefits information
- Following up on insurance information for employees
- Liaising between employees and insurance broker regarding claims
- Compiling and distributing reports as required
In addition to the above duties and responsibilities, the Payroll and Benefits Administrators are responsible to back up one another for vacation relief, participate in special projects and complete other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner certificate or working towards is required
- Minimum 3 years' experience with computerized full cycle payroll administration
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now is considered an asset
- Excellent Microsoft Excel and Outlook skills
- Strong Customer Service skills
- Proven attention to detail
- Must be highly organized with strong multitasking abilities while working under pressure to meet deadlines
- Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
- Self motivated
