We are currently looking for a highly motivated and experienced Network and Systems Administrator to join Surex's IT Operations team in Eastern Canada, reporting to our Cambridge/Burlington, Ontario office.


About the role:


You will work with the IT Admin / DevOps team leaders to design, implement, and support the technology systems that are used by our Insurance Brokers, Management, and internal teams to deliver a quality experience to our customers.

Responsibilities & Duties:


  • Service Desk
  • Follow established Service Desk procedures for Level 2 and 3 support and
update/follow ticket procedures ensuring achievement of established KPI's and SLA's

  • Respond to alerts and resolve issues
  • Prioritize outstanding issues and manage user expectations
  • Escalate problem issues accurately, proactively and in a timely manner, making
recommendations as necessary while using established guidelines

  • Manage infrastructure capacity planning and performance monitoring and make
recommendations as needed

  • Debug and resolve advanced hardware and software problems in a timely and efficient manner
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure operational support documentation
  • Maintain networks, systems, and devices including firewalls, virtual private networks (VPNs),
wide area networks (WANs), local area networks (LANs), virtual local area networks (VLANs),
routers, and other physical network-related hardware (internally and for client environments). As


well:


  • Manage issues with internet service providers to ensure timely resolution
  • Manage antivirus control software and security updates
  • Manage client backup and recovery systems
  • Manage computer/network facilities including monitoring and response
  • Design and build a fileshare security access models
  • Identify, recommend, and implement enhancements to processes and procedures
  • Adhere to standard operational and support procedures
  • Vulnerability Remediation and Patch Management, that is, perform patch management tasks
including but not limited to maintaining current knowledge of available patches, deciding what
patches are appropriate for systems, ensuring that patches are installed properly, testing
systems after installation, and documenting all associated procedures


Qualifications & Skills:


  • 34 Years of Experience
Solid understanding of switching, firewalls, STP, VLANs, VPNs, Trunks, ACLs, multicast routing

  • Understanding of TCP/IP and the OSI stack and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
  • Strong networking skills including routing, VLANs, switching, firewalls (Cisco, Meraki, and
Ubiquiti), point to point technology, wireless, DNS, DHCP, Radius and certificates

  • Proficient with Terminal Servers and RDP
  • High level understanding of Network, Computer and End user security
  • Proficient with VMWare/Hyper C, virtual machine administration and provisioning
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Mac OS 10.x and Server Operating Systems
  • Degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field
