The team:

Scotiabank's Global Technology Solutions (GTS) - Infrastructure Operations Environment Support Team is responsible for support and project deployments, both on premise Data Centres and the Cloud, to support the Critical Payment Related Applications.

We are responsible for supporting and deploying new technologies, following best practices, and consulting and coordinating with the Bank's many technology teams with the aim of providing a highly resilient Environment as the underlying core of the Bank's technology infrastructure.

The role:

You will play a critical part in supporting the various technologies within our global environment & provide technical leadership on projects & P1/major incident management.

You are expected to be a part of the teams' rotational on-call duties for 3rd level support and, when required, to be a part of after-hours project deployments in the evenings or weekends.

You are eager to work with leading edge technologies to incorporate complex network solutions, as well as work with other technology teams to contribute to an overall solution.
You thrive on being handson during mid to complex project deployments into production. This will include the support of assigned systems by acting as an internal consultant on assigned infrastructure and providing suggestions for viable solutions to systems problems of high complexity.
You want to be challenged with complex problem solving in time sensitive situations to reduce system downtime and customer impact.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

You possess strong communication (verbal/written) skills. Furthermore, you also have good interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external business partners and vendors.
You can demonstrate you have provided technical leadership on a project(s).
You have at least 7+ years of handson technical working experience with:
Systems administration, configuration & troubleshooting of Oracle Solaris (Sun Solaris) versions 10/1
Hardware associated with Solaris-Oracle environment
Solaris Zones, Solaris Containers & Solaris Logical Domains (LDoms)
Solaris ZFS (previously Zettabyte File System)/Veritas File System
You have at least 5+ years of handson technical working experience with the systems administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
You have at least 3+ years of handson technical working experience as an IBM MQ Websphere administrator.
You possess handson technical working experience in the use of korn shell (kshell) scripting to perform automation tasks.
You possess the ability to judge relative urgency of multiple issues appropriately.
You have advanced analytical & problemsolving skills & can work productively with limited supervision.
Handson working experience from supporting SWIFT environments is an asset.
Postsecondary education in Computer Science, Engineering or in a technologyrelated major.
