Job Summary

As a Strategy Analyst, you will be responsible for contributing to the development and enhancement of strategic planning tools and conducting ongoing analysis in support of Nav CANADA's strategic direction.

You will conduct research on aviation trends and opportunities, as well as broader environmental scanning activities to identify relevant trends, challenges, or opportunities both internal and external to the organization.

You will also have an important role to play in supporting the development of strategic goals on an annual basis and tracking progress against them.


Your strong analytical and critical thinking skills will help set priorities, test assumptions and enhance the models that we use to derive the insight and foresight needed to stay atop of a changing and dynamic environment.

Your creative approach and solid communication skills will help convey complex strategic concepts and data models for a variety of audiences, in support of strategic decision making.


Job Description:


Key Accountabilities:

  • Participate in local, regional, national and international panels focused on aviation issues and opportunities.
  • Conduct research to identify and understand aviation, business and other trends, and their relevance to NAV CANADA.
  • Leverage internal and external data to better understand trends and their potential significance and impact.
  • Design and populate decision making tools for strategic planning, assess outputs, and provide recommendations for continual improvement of the tools and results.
  • Support the translation of strategic concepts and complex ideas and data sets into easily digestible reports and presentations for a variety of audiences.
  • Participate in the development of annual strategic goals and leverage insights to inform decision making.
  • Track progress against strategic goals to identify any gaps or issues for potential mitigation.
  • Develop dashboards and other summaries to communicate progress and highlight concerns.
  • Work in collaboration with other groups across NAV CANADA to understand and assess capacity to carry out strategic goals.
  • Work in tandem with other parts of the Strategy realization group, including Benefits Realization, Business Unit Planning, and Corporate Performance to contribute to the collective success of the team.
Job Requirements


Education:


  • Undergraduate Degree in Business or Public Administration, Economics, Statistics, Analytics, Aviation/Aerospace, or another relevant discipline. Master's degree considered an asset.

Experience:


  • 3+ years working in an analytical capacity. Experience working in the aviation industry and with aviation panels and associations considered an asset.
  • Exposure to a range of data and analytical concepts and methodologies, including Primary research, surveys, interviews, observations; Financial modelling; Forecasting / econometrics.
  • Experience in a strategy or planning capacity.

Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of current techniques and practices for data collection, manipulation and validation, and the organization of information for reporting purposes.
  • Understanding of the aviation industry.
  • Understanding of best practices in strategic and annual planning.
  • Familiarity with best practices in risk management, performance measurement and benefits realization.
  • Understanding of NAV CANADA's strategic direction, business model, values and stakeholders.

Abilities:

  • Superior communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with corresponding ability to effectively communicate ideas and synthesize and visualize data and analysis into briefing materials, presentations and dashboards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including solid consultation and collaboration skills, with ability to build relationships and conduct interviews and meetings with a variety of stakeholder groups to obtain relevant data and information.
  • Strategic thinking skills, with ability to ask poignant questions and understand the strategic significance of data and other findings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (including PowerPoint, Word, Teams, SharePoint), with advanced capabilities in Excel, Power BI and other statistical or modeling software.
