Our team competes in the Greater Metro Jr. A Hockey League (GMHL) and prides itself on a tradition of excellence both on and off the ice.

Located in the city of Oshawa, Ontario, we are deeply rooted in the local hockey culture and dedicated to providing a positive and competitive environment for our players to thrive.


Position Overview:

As the Director of Scouting and Summer Programming, you will be responsible for establishing and managing a comprehensive scouting program to recruit, draft, and assist to sign players aged 15 to 21, both locally and internationally.

Additionally, you will oversee our summer camp programming and organize teams to participate in competitive summer tournaments.

Reporting to the General Manager, this role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and a deep understanding of player recruitment and development.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement a scouting network to identify and evaluate talented hockey players aged 14 to 21, both locally and internationally.
  • Coordinate scouting activities, including attending games, tournaments, and showcases, to assess potential recruits and draft prospects.
  • Build relationships with players, coaches, agents, and scouts to facilitate player recruitment and signings.
  • Collaborate with the coaching staff and management team to assess team needs and prioritize player recruitment targets.
  • Oversee the organization's sustainable summer camp programming, including planning, scheduling, and execution of onice and office activities.
  • Recruit qualified coaching staff and support personnel for the summer camp program.
  • Organize and manage 12 teams to participate in competitive summer tournaments, including coordinating travel arrangements and logistics.
  • Evaluate the performance and effectiveness of scouting efforts, summer camp programs, and tournament participation and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with league regulations, policies, and procedures related to player recruitment, scouting, and summer programming.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in scouting, player recruitment, or talent identification in hockey, preferably at the Junior level or higher.
  • Strong knowledge of hockey scouting principles, player evaluation methodologies, and recruitment strategies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership and management abilities, with experience leading scouting teams or programs.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience in organizing and managing summer camp programs and coordinating tournament participation (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed for scouting and recruitment activities.
