If you have lived in Vancouver for a while, chances are high you've been to the Vancouver Christmas Market.

Now in our 13th season, our authentic outdoor German Christmas Market features unique holiday shopping, seasonal entertainment, and delicious traditional food and drinks.

Located in the downtown core of Vancouver, at Jack Poole Plaza, the Christmas Market will be open to the public daily from mid-November to December 24.

Full-Time Employment Opportunity - Event Operations Coordinator

Vancouver Christmas Market Inc. is seeking a driven, and enthusiastic individual with event-related logístical experience.

In collaboration with the VP of Operations, the role entails overseeing the entire operation of the event(s), from the set up & take down of the infrastructure to the supervision of suppliers and management of Hausmeister staff.


This full-time position is a combination of home office and office days, becoming full time in office & on site from October to December.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate supplier services and infrastructure during planning, event and dismantling phases
  • Coordinate supplier movein and moveout in collaboration with VP of Operations
  • Assist with the production schedule
  • Liaise with third parties (service providers & partners) on behalf of VCM.
  • Manage a team of four or more Hausmeisters (handyman/woman)
  • Manage warehouse inventory using our inventory software
  • Yellow Dog
  • Attend all permit meetings with the VP of Operations
  • Assist VP of Operations during initial inspections, as well as any ongoing inspections
  • Act as point person for Operations when VP is off site
  • Comply with strict standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Remain in constant communication with VP of Operations providing detailed updates.
  • Provide regular event support to VCM as assigned including inventory tracking and general market functionality with support of VCM's Hausmeister team
  • Assist Vendor Manager to ensure vendor related issues are addressed and successfully solved in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Décor & Assistant Event Coordinator with decor installation and planning.
Requirements and Selection Criteria

  • Curious, Inquisitive, Creative, and a Christmas fanatic
  • Bachelor Degree or Diploma in a related field of study (an event management related degree is preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency with software and online tools (Microsoft Office, Square and Yellow Dog Software)
  • Diplomatic approach while working within policies, rules, and procedures.
  • Demonstrative, selfcritical, determined approach to completing assignments
  • Ability to multitask within tight deadlines
  • Proven experience managing suppliers for events or festivals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Copywriting that balances quick wit and creative spirit with attention to detail and strategic approach
  • Excellent organizational skills and/or project management experience
  • Experience with scheduling and overseeing the activities of large groups.
  • Motivated selfstarter
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to take projects from concept through execution to final production
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing environments, problemsolving skills, and an innovative mindset including exercising good judgment and decision making.
  • Second Language (German) an asset
  • Valid Driver's license and access to a vehicle is a requirement
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in an outside environment for long periods of time.
Compensation
- $60,000 (annual salary after training phase) or based on experience
