Team Mandate

As EDC aims to be the leader in helping all Canadian exporters go, grow, and succeed internationally, the Digital Business Platforms (DBP) group in EDC plays a critical role in enabling teams to leverage technologies by providing an easy to use, secure and fit-for-purpose digital business platforms.


Job Overview

Reporting to the Family Product Owner, the Product Owner (PO) of the DevSecOps technology platform squad is a unifying force, aligning a platform team around a shared vision and purpose.

Through continuous collaboration with stakeholders and customers you will ensure that team efforts are aligned with strategic and business outcomes and maintain a roadmap to communicate the plan for the future of the platform.


Key Responsibilities
While teams are empowered to choose their ways of working that best fit their circumstances, all Product Owners are responsible for the following activities regardless of the delivery approach their team is using (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)

Defining the Vision

  • Leads and provides expert guidance in the development and socialization of the platform vision, strategy, and roadmap, requiring the alignment of cross functional teams and initiatives.

Stakeholder Management

  • Maintains and manages high trust relationships with internal and external stakeholders, directing effective decision making including effective management of senior level stakeholders.
  • Communicate plans and objectives with stakeholders and continuously seek feedback to ensure the team is building the right thing.

Technical Knowledge

  • In depth knowledge of software development and delivery.
  • Familiar with continuous integration and continuous delivery including pipeline development.
  • Experience with test automation tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of Azure DevOps.

Managing the Product Backlog

  • Defines priorities for platform backlog, negotiate tradeoffs, maps out dependencies and plan releases for a complex business technology platform with significant organizational impact.
  • Work collaboratively with the Scrum Master to conduct backlog refinement sessions to build shared knowledge and understanding within the team.

Anticipate Customer Needs and Manage Expectations

  • Stay one step ahead of business needs by continuously staying on top of industry trends and technology advancements.

Release Planning and Goal Setting

  • Utilize an OKR Framework to establish Objectives and Key Results for the Team including measures to evaluate progress.
  • Monitor team funding and contribute to budget and business case development where new major investments are required.

Screening Criteria

  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience including but not limited to solution architecture/design, business analyst roles, product owner/product management, solution delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing business value through technology.
  • Advanced knowledge of Azure DevOps.

Assets

  • Disciplined Agile or similar Agile certification.
  • CSPO Certification or other in relation with Product Owner or Product Management.
  • Experience developing and using Objectives and Key Results (OKR) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Demonstrated experience working as part of an Agile team.
  • Bilingualism in both official languages (English and French).

Salary
- $91,700-137,600, plus performance-based incentive

Salary ranges and compensation structure are currently under review. We anticipate updates to be in effect in July 2023.
