Bethesda is currently recruiting for a Full Time Psychotherapist. This position will be based in Thorold.


Working to promote Bethesda's values, vision and mission statement and quality client care, the Psychotherapist will provide psychotherapy to children, youth and adults with mental health concerns.


KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the expansion of mental health services at Bethesda
  • Provide clinical intake assessments to identify symptoms and to inform individualized treatment plans
  • Provide short and longterm psychotherapy including cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic therapy, clientcentered therapy, crosscultural counselling, trauma informed, as well as other treatment modalities, to individuals with mental health concerns, including individuals with comorbid and complex mental health difficulties
  • Provide individual, couples, family and group psychotherapy services
  • Develop and facilitate a variety of shortterm psychotherapeutic group programming based on different mental health concerns (e.g. anxiety, depression, trauma)
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation
  • Respond to situational mental health crisis as needed
  • Develop and present a variety of psychoeducational workshops regarding mental health topics
  • Facilitate brief mental health workshops for staff interested in learning about healthy coping strategies
  • Provide various reports related to the services provided, statistical reports, etc.
  • Provide appropriate referrals as needed
  • Collaborate with community partners as needed
  • Provide supervision and guidance to students
  • Attend scheduled department staff meetings
  • Attend required inservices and programs
  • Participate in continuing education activities and assist in the inservice training of other employees

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology, or other relevant education program is required
  • Registered as a Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
  • Experience providing psychotherapy services to clients with a diverse range of mental health concerns
  • Experience creating and carrying out treatment plans
  • Experience supporting individuals with comorbid and complex mental health difficulties
  • Ability to accurately assess a critical situation and respond effectively (e.g. suicide risk assessments)
  • Skilled in evaluating individual needs and determining the most appropriate intervention
  • Strong working knowledge of psychotherapeutic interventions and psychopathology
  • Knowledge of developmental disabilities
  • Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Experience working with children, adolescents and adults
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Satisfactory disciplinary and attendance records are required.
