Job Description:


Position Summary:

This is a full-time position to work Monday to Friday, plus occasional weekends and statutory holidays.

The Biomedical Services department provides technical expertise at Cambridge Memorial Hospital for the support and maintenance of medical devices and systems.

Services such as electrical inspection, device evaluation and user support are also mandated. Significant emphasis is placed on the repair and maintenance of medical devices.

The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling.


The Bio Med Technologist performs biomedical technologist duties such as inspection, repair, calibration, maintenance, and installation of patient-related devices and systems.

The Technologist may take part in the evaluation of various devices as required, and performs other duties as assigned. The Bio Med Technologist must hold a valid driver's license.

This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.


Skills and Qualifications:


  • Graduate of an accredited college program in Electronics and/or Biomedical Technology required
  • Minimum 3 years' recent experience in the field of Biomedical Technology or equivalent required
  • Strong knowledge of electronics, medical devices/systems, anatomy and physiology required
  • Sound understanding of comprehensive work order and preventive maintenance data support systems required
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and deal with healthcare professionals at all levels
  • Regular attendance is required
  • The successful external applicant is required to provide the applicable criminal record check, as requested by Human Resources, in accordance with federal and provincial legislation. Valid criminal record checks are in original format and dated with two months from date of conditional offer from CMH._
