Major responsibilities:

  • To receive donations, sort and correctly store food items, household, personal hygiene and janitorial supplies, including the loading/unloading of trucks as required.
  • To order, monitor, rotate and control the correct use of stocks and supplies and be responsible for secure storage and usage in order to eliminate waste and/or improper use.
  • To rotate, organize and supply food and food products, including fresh produce, as directed, for daily meal preparation.
  • To order supplies and restock cleaning stations, including janitorial supplies. To direct and assist volunteers in the laundry and store rooms.
  • To provide housekeeping and janitorial services as needed. To prepare care packages for clients as directed.
  • To maintain the confidentiality and ethical standards of Good Shepherd Ministries at all times. And to perform any other tasks as required or as assigned from time to time by the Manager of Hospitality Services or his designate.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with standard concepts and best practices in a stockroom environment
  • Organizational skills and an ability to prioritize workload.
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to effectively manage time.
  • Workplace safety skills in organizing and storing perishable food, canned goods etc.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials/chemicals and safe ways of using equipment.
  • Physically able to regularly lift objects
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills to provide direction and supervision to volunteers.
