Job Summary/Basic Function

Join our Parking Services team this summer This position performs collection and analysis of parking data including occupancy, turnover, inventory and related information to evaluate the effectiveness of existing parking programs and to assist with parking studies and planning.

Duties

Perform manual parking counts in on and offstreet locations in a variety of weather conditions and related data processing.
Gather data from automated systems (Loops, detection cameras, ALPR).
Writing reports and documentation and creating presentation materials.
Preparation for and attendance at public events.
Field visits, taking measurements and public surveys.
Working with GIS maps.
Other miscellaneous duties, as required, to assist with daily operations.

Qualifications

Applicants must be enrolled in a Degree or Diploma program at a recognized postsecondary institution in one of the following:
Civil Engineering Technology
Transportation Engineering
Community/Transportation Planning
Computer Science (Analytics-Business Intelligence focus)
Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office

Special Instructions to Applicants

Student Term Placement dates are May to August 2023. Some evening and weekend shifts will be required for this position. Flexibility is an asset.

Hours per week:35, Monday to Friday with some evening and weekend shifts

Hours of work: 8:00am to 4:00pm

Student Program Eligibility requirements:

You must be attending school, college or university during the last school term and returning to your studies in the subsequent academic year.

VERIFICATION WILL BE REQUIRED.

Submission of a RCMP Security Clearance form may be required.
