TERM:

SALARY:
$60,000 - $70,000 annually - commensurate with skills and experience

The Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research Group (HALO) is located within the CHEO RI (Ottawa, Canada) but works predominantly virtually.

HALO provides international leadership and research excellence in healthy active living for the promotion of health and wellness in children and youth.

The HALO team is comprised of a multidisciplinary group of research scientists, clinicians, research staff, administrative support personnel, graduate and practicum students, post-doctoral fellows, and visiting scholars.

Working with local, provincial, national and international partners and stakeholders, HALO is committed to advancing the understanding and importance of promoting healthy active living, with a mission to preserve, enhance and restore the health and wellness of our most precious resource, our children.


HALO is looking for a
full-time Research Coordinator until December 31, 2026 to work on new and ongoing research projects related to research on 24-hour movement behaviours of children, active outdoor play, global comparisions of indicators of children's physical activity, among other projects.

The position will involve providing coordination of various projects, including an active role in various research projects, collecting data, report writing, research ethics board submissions, preparing presentations, supervising students, participating in regular team meetings, and other related activities.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the coordination of various research projects related to 24hour movement behaviours, active outdoor play and other healthy active living measures in the pediatric population
  • Prepare financial reports and disburse payments
  • Assist with human resource processes
  • Maintain communications with all researchers and research staff for each project
  • Organize meetings and prepare relevant presentations and materials
  • Take and prepare meeting minutes as required
  • Assist in preparing grant proposals, manuscripts and submitting required documents to Research Ethics
Board (REB) and regulatory authorities

  • Responsible for performing basic statistics and producing various studyrelated materials including communication and study progress reports
  • Supervise and provide training to other personnel (research assistants/students/volunteers) on study procedures and assessments
  • Participate in and present at educational sessions both internally to staff and externally as requested
  • Liaise as necessary with project stakeholders both within CHEO and externally, around the world
  • Participate in HALO Research Group meetings and other meetings as required
  • Perform work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all CHEO corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety
  • Keep all mandatory training uptodate
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILL AND ABILITIES

  • Masters or doctorate degree (preferred) in a healthrelated field
(e.g., Human Kinetics, Kinesiology, Public Health, Population Health) Essential

  • Experience with related research project coordination/management Essential
  • English essential bilingualism an asset (French and English) Preferred
  • Familiarity with research design, process and conduct Essential
  • Familiarity with database management Essential
  • Strong knowledge base in pediatric exercise science Essential
  • Experience with data synthesis and consolidation Essential
  • Ability to take guided initiative and to work in an organized fashion Essential
