The mission of GS1 Canada's Healthcare team is to expedite the adoption of a common system of global standards in health systems to improve patient safety, cost efficiency, staff productivity, and ensure all healthcare trading partners and providers can seamlessly operate in a world of digital reality.


As a member of the GS1 Canada senior management team, the VP, Healthcare & Pharmacy will demonstrate leadership in driving strategy development to advance the adoption of GS1 Standards in healthcare delivery, medication management, and e-health practice.

With sound knowledge of the Canadian Healthcare and Pharmacy System, you understand structure, government relations, and mechanics of the system from point of procurement to patient care delivery, including electronic medical record and traceability.

You will work closely with other department heads to define the healthcare strategy and execute associated internal and external requirements.

You will also be responsible for team development and building organizational capability to achieve strategic goals.


WHAT YOU'LL DO:


  • Engage senior health system leaders and their respective trading and solution partners to champion strategy development, implementation roadmaps, guidance support, deployment plans and progress reporting utilizing scorecards
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key associations, industry stakeholders and advocates supporting the sector, assesses adoption readiness, and deploy effective engagement strategies
  • Establish the deployment strategy to advance medication barcoding in healthcare organizations
  • Establish relationships and policy recommendations to advance the adoption of GS1 standards within healthcare/pharmacy practice, accreditation, and governing policies
  • Align professional practice policy and guidance opportunities through organizations including National Association of Pharmacy Regulators (NAPRA), Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA), Canada Health Infoway (CHI), Accreditation Canada and Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP), and respective provincial counterparts.
  • Advance sectorwide adoption roadmaps the clinically integrated supply chain roadmap, and the GS1 DataMatrix Roadmap for Pharmaceuticals in Canada
  • Oversee associated standards and services work groups and committees that deliver Board mandates aligned with healthcare administration, supply chain, clinical interoperability, and ehealth
  • Promote health system quality and patient safety by educating and creating awareness, facilitating members to drive adoption and implementation, gathering metrics, and publishing related research
  • Create and delivers strategic planning documentation to facilitate leadership and implementation requirements
  • Manage revenue and expense budgets in alignment with strategic initiatives
  • Provide leadership, strategic development, coaching and performance support to the Healthcare team to ensure highly effective team performance and skills growth
  • Establish and maintain detailed policies, procedures, goals, and milestones to effectively manage service levels and resources consistent with organizational frameworks
  • Develop an indepth understanding of key business drivers and proactively provide ideas and solutions within GS1 Canada to enhance performance through improved stakeholder service delivery, processes, and policies
  • Negotiate relevant business contracts, soliciting involvement of other management team members as required
  • Participate in industry events associated with assigned sectors and provides strategic insight to key internal stakeholders to deliver and maximize opportunities
  • Lead and implement the Healthcare strategy according to Memorandums of Understanding (MOU's) and protocols
  • Manage external outsourced resources to align with GS1 Canada commitments and budgets.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:


  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience within the Healthcare sector, preferably with an MHA, MBA, or other related postgraduation degree
  • Professional designations such as Certified Health Executive (CHE) an asset
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare system, asset if it's within a healthcare institution and/or shared services (i.e., group purchasing and distribution, government and professional practice policy)
  • Marketing and communication excellence with experience in media relations
  • Indepth understanding of the key business drivers that enhance patient safety, overall healthcare supply chain, and trading partner efficiencies
  • Working knowledge of project management techniques and methodologies
  • Ability to articulate and resolve complex project related problems and execute innovative solutions at times with competing priorities
  • Ability to anticipate roadblocks and future trends; develop executable plans from abstract concepts to drive operational success
