What you will do

Independently execute all aspects of the data science lifecycle with a bias towards explainability and reproducibility of results
Make datadriven business recommendations and effectively communicate insights to multiple levels of stakeholders
Validate and support your own work through theoretical and practical evidence
Work closely with team members to identify, coordinate, and consolidate dependencies to deliver on the release plan
Work closely with the technology and data teams to ensure adequate testing by contributing to test plans, supporting test plan execution, and validating that test results meet business expectations
Develop and enhance solutions for monitoring the results of production models
Contribute to the growth of the data science community at Canada Life

What you will bring

Masters in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, Data Science) and 1+ years of experience in building AI and ML solutions; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficiency in developing machine learning solutions with Python or R (Python preferred)
Broad knowledge and practical experience with a range of statistical and machine learning algorithms including common libraries such as TensorFlow, Scikitlearn, and XGBoost
Curious nature, comfortable asking questions of peers and leaders to improve understanding of business environment
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to orient for both technical and nontechnical audiences
Knowledge of data science best practices related to version control, reproducibility, exploratory analysis, feature engineering, model selection and evaluation, and interpretation of model results
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work in a fastpaced environment
Ability to work in ambiguous situations; resilient and tenacious with a propensity to persevere
Challenger mindset and passion to challenge status quo to find new solutions and drive out of the box ideas embraces change
Experience with developing and deploying endtoend ML pipelines and cloudbased solutions such as Azure ML, Databricks, and Power BI would be considered an asset
