The Network Analyst supports the Network Sustainment Centre, and is focused on
leading the new technology introduction, evolve network acceptance, participate in
projects and network upgrades. You will also champion operational readiness and
process improvements working closely with the Solutions & Architecture teams, and
the Network Operations Center (NOC). You will be an expert in the hands-on
troubleshooting of network technologies with a strong knowledge in a variety of
network vendors and their management systems. You will be providing technical
support to network operations teams for escalated incidents of varying complexity. You
will also work with Solutions & Architecture teams and network vendors for new
technology deployments, helping to build, maintain, and operate a reliable network for
our customers. You will also provide much of the hands-on support, configuration and
installation for customer devices as required and may support ad-hoc network projects.
The position ensures that all network issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently by
either resolving them directly or by escalating to a senior team member. The
customer support on issues and participating in management of all network
components.
The Network Analyst will report directly to the Manager, Network Sustainment, and will
also be supported and mentored by the team lead. This is a critical front-line
customer sites and occasional travel is a requirement of the role. This role is also
expected to evolve as ISM's business evolves.

This is a 14-month temporary term position.
Responsibilities:
A Network Analyst will enhance/maintain business relationships with customers,
typically by:
- Support, configure, maintain, and upgrade network devices, including but not limited to firewalls, loadbalancers, switches
- Monitor network availability and performance. Review alerts and notifications from monitoring systems and diagnose issues
- Perform timely response and technical support to all incidents, requests, outages, and alerts
- Analyze technical and operational problems. Work with internal technical teams and/or vendor representatives to resolve problems in a timely fashion
- Participate in optimizing the network to meet performance, capacity, and security requirements
- Recommend, schedule and perform network improvements, upgrades and repairs
- Participate in network implementation and migration plans. Implement network solutions in the enterprise environment.
- Develop and maintain the documentation to ensure changing requirements and technologies are captured and communicated
- Assist in capacity planning, networking devices procurement and support renewal
- Participate in an oncall rotation to provide support for network related issues.
- Collaborate with customers to advise and transform network and security infrastructure to enhance and optimize performance, stability, availability, and security
- Develop and maintain the documentation to ensure changing requirements and technologies are captured and communicated
- Provide recommendation, guidance, and oversight to the NOC in configuration, maintenance, and upgrade activities
- Establish standards, thresholds and rules/policies for monitoring and alerting, network availability and performance
- Review alerts and notifications from monitoring systems and diagnose issues, where escalated
- Provide recommendations, guidance and coaching to less senior team members
- Participate in an oncall rotation
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary education in related field or equivalent experience.
- 34 years of experience supporting and monitoring network systems or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in deploying and troubleshooting large scale, complex enterprise networks.
- Understanding of general IT concepts and technologies including cloud computing, virtualization, server platforms, and security.
- Demonstrated knowledge/experience of networking concepts, protocols, equipment, configuration and implementation (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, layer 47 firewalls, IPSec and SSL VPNs, routing, switching, load balancers, etc).
- Demonstrated understanding of industry standard ITSM process frameworks (such as ITIL, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Demonstrated understanding of Problem Solving and Decision-Making methodologies (eg: Kepner-Tregoe).
- Excellent written, verbal, as well as customer service and interpersonal skills.
- One or more relevant industry certification (eg: CCNA, JNCI
