SCOPE

Reporting to the Director, Research Agreements and Intellectual Property with functional reporting to the Manager of Research Grants for dossiers within their purview, the incumbent will coordinate the post-award administration of dossiers managed by the Research Agreements and Intellectual Property and Research Grants units of the Office of Research, and the processing of research collaboration agreements and related programs and processes that are required for the development and performance of research projects.

To serve as a liaison between the Research Grants and Research Agreements and Intellectual Property units and internal units and clients.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate all postaward processes including budgetary requirements, Transfer of Fund agreements, and closure notices. Ensure coordination and liaison with the principal investigator, Financial Services, sponsor(s), and other internal and external collaborators and partners as may be required to resolve emergent issues in dossiers managed by unit.
  • Ensure communication between the with internal units (i.e. EHS, Ethics, Office of General Counsel) and principal investigator as required to address any outstanding postaward issues.
  • Liaise between the Research Agreements and IP and Research Grants teams on joint postaward issues to ensure effective management of dossiers.
  • Monitor the progress of ongoing projects, deliverables, and financial status ensuring accurate recording and reporting.
  • Monitor, update, and maintain information in OOR internal research funding database(s) and patent/invention database.
  • Assist with data gathering and compilation for external reporting requirements; conduct patent searches and produce related automated reports, prepare intellectual property assignment documentation and other intellectual property management documentation.
  • Perform other duties in support of the unit.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in a field relevant to the primary responsibilities with one to two years of work experience in a research environment
  • Knowledge of university research funding environment and government research funding programs. Familiarity with research data management tools is considered an asset.
  • Excellent written and spoken English (level 5) good written and spoken French (level 4)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel, and strong aptitude in working with complex databases
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, problemsolving and time management skills
  • Proven ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of university environment, policies and practices governing the responsible conduct of research are considered an asset.

Since this position supports academic and administrative functions of the university, proficiency in English and French, as indicated, is required.
