Primary Responsibility:

Reporting to the President, the position of Controller is accountable for all finance & accounting functions for this rapidly expanding, organization with operations in Canada and the United States.

This will include leading and managing the accounting and administrative functions. Prepare accurate and timely reporting of financial results. Manage cash flow and the payment to suppliers, customer invoicing and collections.


Role and Responsibilities:


  • Manage all finance and accounting functions for the organization including accounts payable/receivable and financial statement preparation for 2 operating corporations and 2 holding companies
  • Develop a standard monthly reporting package to be provided to the President and shareholders
  • Maintain and improve financial information and recording systems by ensuring that proper internal controls and accounting principles are followed
  • Complete monthly and annual financial reconciliations and reporting
  • Complete biweekly payroll
  • Maintain and develop proper processes and related documentation across the organization
  • Ensure payments to suppliers are completed in an accurate and timely manner; maintain the related system and controls to support the payment process
  • Monthly and annual Government and tax remittances
  • Complete all monthly and annual US tax filing while working with our professional advisors
  • Responsible for the organization's budget preparation and forecasting
  • Manage company cash flow
  • Responsible for managing relationships with the bank and our accounting firm
  • Manage all WSIB claims and reporting
  • Administer all HR & Benefit functions
  • Review all customer contracts
  • Manage company insurance requirements
  • All other duties as required

Education / Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration, CPA designation (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a professional accountant with extensive experience ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Extensive knowledge of Quickbooks/Netsuite is essential
  • Knowledge of US Sales and Use Tax reporting would be an asset
  • Experience in providing financial advice to management
  • Proven leadership and relationship management skills and experience
  • Ability to prioritize among competing tasks
  • Highly organized and deadline focused
  • Adapts to rapidly changing requirements and performs well under pressure
  • Strong team orientation with a
    fun and positive outlook

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
