Job Summary:


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Undertakes research of industry best practices to develop, implement and maintain education and outreach programs for W/WW Services and Programs.
  • Liaises with Halton Region Public Communications to create and update web content, printed materials and media releases (news/social) and obtain appropriate Public Works approvals.
  • Responsible for cohosting the Halton Children's Water Festival with Conservation Halton staff including development of appropriate interactive displays, coordination of volunteers and event logistics.
  • Presents and promotes Regional W/WW programs and services at Community events and festivals.
  • Develops processes and procedures to communicate W/WW Bylaw Compliance issues, and maintains accurate documentation and logs prior to initiating enforcement orders and fines.
  • Assesses internal business processes within the Customer Response & Outreach section to implement continuous improvements in work instructions, procedures, and customer service scripts.
  • Analyze and evaluate customer data from multiple sources to identify correlations, patterns and underlying issues and makes recommendations to improve customer processes and develops appropriate education and outreach programs.
  • Compiles information for program monitoring and outcomes reports to senior management and Council.
  • Creates and maintains professional relationships with Regional staff across different departments, Consultants, Contractors, Councilors, Area Partners (Conservation Authority and local municipalities), and the general public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:


Essential

  • Postsecondary education in Environmental Studies/Sciences or Engineering.
  • Three to five (35) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, knowledge of industry trends and best practices related to water distribution and wastewater collection systems usage.
  • Strong customer service orientation skills and ability to deal tactfully and effectively with employees, team members and the public is required.
  • Excellent problem/complaint resolution skills with the ability to maintain professionalism and composure when responding to customer demands.
  • Ability to use effective negotiation skills to resolve conflict.
  • Skills of persuasiveness and assertiveness to influence others.
  • Program management skills, organization, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent oral/written communication and negotiation skills to interface with various stakeholders including Regional Council, Regional Staff, Consultants, Contractors, Area Partners (Conservation Authority and local municipalities), as well as the General Public.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Working Conditions

  • Flexibility in working hours is required, the position will need to work outside of normal business hours (occasional weekend and evening hours).
  • Travel across Halton Region will be required; the incumbent must provide their own transportation.

  • Current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen, by the first day of employment.
  • The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver's license by their first day of employment.
