The Opportunity:


The Pandemic Support Assistant provides assistance and acts as first point of contact for all patients, visitors, and staff entering the hospital to remind them of current measures in place such as the use of hand sanitizer, distributing masks, and providing wayfinding support by directing people to the correct line for registration or expediting them into the Emergency Department.

The Pandemic Support Assistant provides monitoring and education on the Universal Mask Policy, hand hygiene, and social distancing to Hospital staff and the public.


Qualifications:


  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
  • 13 years previous experience providing direct customer service, previous experience working in a healthcare setting would be considered an asset
  • Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
  • Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families. Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be dedicated to professional growth & development
  • Must be able to perform all bona fide and essential duties of the position, which may include physical demands such as moving/transferring patients, pushing, pulling, bending, etc.
  • Must have demonstrated excellent attendance/performance record
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with other members of the health care team.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Ensures patients, visitors, and staff arriving to the Hospital are screened and provided with a mask;
  • Ensures patients, visitors, and staff arriving to the Hospital engage in hand sanitizing;
  • Ensures patients requiring a wheelchair are supported;
  • Supports patients and visitors with wayfinding throughout the Hospital;
  • Accepts and distributes personal belongings dropped off for inpatients;
  • Acts as a support for screening dialysis patients when time permits;
  • Provides monitoring and education throughout the Hospital on the Universal Mask Policy, hand hygiene, and social distancing to staff and the public

Please be reminded that as a Hospital, in order to provide the necessary patient care, our operations run 24/7.

Therefore, depending on the program for which you are applying, it may be an expectation that you are available to work weekdays and weekends, as well as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights.

Regularly scheduled for up to 24 hours per week (48/pay).


Wage:
$ $20.89 per hour
